DAM CHUMmers is back for 2015, bigger and better than ever! It's been a very successful program for the club and we're excited to see it continue.

For those who aren't familiar with the program, DAM CHUMmers is our "Dive-A-Month" challenge, where we see how many CHUMmers can dive at least once in each calendar month. Dives can take place anywhere in the world and do not have to be part of a CHUM activity. We'll provide lots of opportunities for you to dive (starting with our annual New Year's Day Dive).

Keep us posted as you go diving to let us know that you've been logging dives that month, and the BOD will keep a running list of who's still in the program. The reporting is an honor system, but we encourage you to post trip reports and pics in the CHUM Gallery to share your adventures.

Once again, we're continuing to expand the awards to keep things interesting:

- All candidates who successfully do dives in each calendar month during 2015 will be awarded the “DAM CHUMmer” logo (as you can see on several CHUMmers' profiles) which will be displayed on their chumclub profile for all of 2016 and they will be recognized at the January '16 meeting.

In addition:

- First-year candidates who successfully complete the challenge will be awarded a DAM CHUMmer patch.

- Candidates who successfully complete a second year of the challenge will receive a DAM CHUMmer hat or visor, with the DAM CHUMmer logo and their screen name embroidered on it. We should be able to offer your choice of any of the hats/visors/colors that we had in Cap-a-palooza, depending on what the vendors still have in their catalog at the end of 2015. Here's an example of the Fidel cap:

- Candidates who successfully complete a third year of the challenge will receive a DAM CHUMmer polo shirt, with the DAM CHUMmer logo embroidered on the front, the Texas dive flag embroidered on the back of the collar, and their screen name embroidered on the sleeve. The are Port Authority Rapid Dry Polos, with a 60/40 cotton/poly blend and are available in either the unisex K455 or the ladies L455. You'll have your choice of any of the available colors, here is an example of the K455 in stone:

- It's worth noting that the years you participate in the challenge do not have to be consecutive. In other words, if you completed DAM CHUMmers 2013, took 2014 off, but then complete the challenge again in 2015, you'll be eligible for a second year award (cap).

As usual, those completing dives in 11 of 12 months (DAM Close) and 10 of 12 months (Still DAM Good) will also be recognized, but will not qualify to display the logo or receive a patch.

You do need to be a Tiger Shark to begin the challenge, as well as to complete it.

This really is a fun way to keep people in the water throughout the year. We're looking forward to seeing some of this year's DAM CHUMmers back for a second or third year, and also seeing some new names on the list of folks diving into the challenge.

2015 is right around the corner. Let's go diving!
