Hi

Just a quick one.

I am keen to dive the Red sea in November and have heard that Dahab is the quieter more relaxed of the two but the diving is not as spectacular.

Is this the case, and are Dahab dives way below in standard or is it a close call, I think I'd prefer the atmosphere in Dahab but don't want to compromise on the diving?

Many thanks

Don't know what you heard but I prefer Dahab to Sharm, and there is nothing second rate about any of the dives, unless you don't like deep.

I have said it here before, when I win the lottery I am retiring to Dahab...

Thats good news, Dahab it is then. (didn't take much persuasion!)

Cheers:)

When you get back lets hear how you liked it, I sure do miss being over there.

Where are you travelling from and are you going through Cairo? I would avoid it unless you want to see the city. I think you can fly to Sharm from Gatwick, but I haven't ever done it so I can't be sure.

Yep, flight from Gatwick to Sharm I think, then on to Dahab, I'll let you know how I get on. If you have any recommendations for accomodation/dive operations I'd welcome them too!

Every time I went to Dahab I stayed at Nesima and it was great, there is a reef worth diving right at the resort and it was cheap by my standards anyway, I think it cos 40 a day or something.

On my last trip there we ate at a German restaurant at the north end of town, Nesima is at the south end, and the hotel and dive op there looked great. I was planning to stay there on my next trip, but alas there hasn't been one yet.

This is a list of some of the hotels but I do not see the one I was talking about. Good luck...

I was there several times at Club red. very good dive center.
In any case, you can allways take a taxi to sharem for diving and come back in the after noon.
Dives in Dahab are done from shore. almost all the good dives in sharem are from boats, so a one day from shor is enoght.

I spent a month in Dahab during June - July. The best place I have ever been. When I got home I sold everything, rented my unit and I fly back there the 9th of Sept. to stay indefinitely. Coming from the Gold Coast in Australia, Sharm would seem to me to be a bit like here, and frankly, I can't get out of here quick enough. There are a lot of good dives out of Dahab, and in Dahab ie. The Lighthouse; Eel Garden. Cost of living is so cheap. I'll be working at Desert Divers on the promenade, drop in and say hello.

Cheers Vernon

Will come and say hello when I'm over.
