. If you dive nitrox, don't use silicone lube. Use just a little O2 compatible lube on the o rings (tribolube or cristolube).
No silicon on the spool if diving Nitrox?

The spools with the shoulder, which seem to be most common these days are really cheap on amazon and aliexpress these days. I bought one through amazon for $5.31 Canadian shipped and it is identical to the previous more expensive one that I bought. It works perfectly with a Dacor gauge that I have. They're even cheaper at divegearexpress, but the shipping charges can negate any savings (in Canada anyway). Also, I just discovered that I can replace the straight spool with a shoulder type on my Uwatec spgs.
