Have been using the Nikonos V for years and thinking of trying digital. I have a D100 and was thinking of the Aquatica housing with my two SB 105 strobes any comments or suggestions.

There is a complete set up on E-bay now. Just search Aquatica d-100 and it'll come up.

I have an Aquatica housing for a Nikon F5. It's great! Never had any problems with it. Not sure if that helps answer any questions or not, but I do swear by it.

I have been using the D100 in an aquatica housing for about 2 years now. In my case, I am using twin ikelite DS125s. I really like the system but it took a bit to get used to. The reason for this is because the D100 uses an older i-TTL algorithm and thus, does not communicate with the strobes properly. The work-around plan is to use "guide numbers".

The newer D200 used e-TTL which ikelite have developed circuitry to have this camera communicate with their strobes - for proper TTL.

So, if you dont mind using (learning) guide numbers ... this is a great setup. Personally, I will likely not "upgrade" at this time. I will probably do so when the next nikon camera (D300?) is released.

How are you not totally burning out photos with TWO DS125s? I have a 125 and a 50, and my photos will turn out completely white if I use them both at once!

If you're using the Ikelite housing, a twin-strobe sync cord, and either set the housing to iTTL or correctly use the manual strobe settings, you should get great photos. I have the exact same setup. It works great!

Are you shooting TTL or Manual flash?

Update

Well I got the housing and the macro port, will stick to the Nikonos for wide angle for now. Had a quick pool night last night before dive trip next week to Roatan.

Well the size and weight with the housing and two SB105's is a lot to get use too, but underwater I found the controls very easy to use and seeing the photo after taking a shot is a dream compared to film. I also found manual exposure very easy. Used one strobe on 1/4 power and the other on 1/16th power and was shooting at f/32 for most shots. The 105mm did a lot of hunting in the dim pool, but I have added an add on light to help with focus assist. I also added a 4 gig card so I can get 400 RAW shots on the card before I download them at night. I guess I can get use to 100 shots per dive as compared to the 36 I am use too!!!

Once I reclaim my buoyancy this should be a blast!!
