I recently heard a diver mention that he uses an extra pocket on his drysuit for a slate with "Cut Tables". Not having the time to get into it with him, what does that mean and how do you "cut tables"?

He is probably using a dive schedule that is the output of a program such as DecoPlanner, V-planner or something similar. Technical divers run their own table or schedule to agument or in lew of a dive computer.

"Cut tables" are usually made for a specific dive profile using a specific set of gases. They reflect the actual profile of the dive as well as practicable, but always more 'square' than reality. When I dive gases that my dual gas computer supports, I dive the computer with backup tables in my pocket. When I dive gases that my computer does NOT support (i.e. He), I use 'cut tables'. That help??

See this link for an example of a normoxic trimix deco dive: V-Planner VPM-B dive decompression software - enlarged view

The diver copies the dive schedule on to a slate or wetnotes for reference.
