Curacau this July/August - cheap accomodations

When I went to Bonaire I found a place off the water for cheap. I will have a car/truck in Curacau and will do shore diving probably exclusively. Need a place to sleep and cook as cheap as possible. Will be traveling alone and everything I've seen requires double occupancy. Any ideas?

A one bedroom apt. (nice/clean) at My Dreams Apt's in Playa Lagun is $65/nt. mt. view - per apt. It's not near much except several dive sites (Lagun & Jeremi & Sta. Cruz) so it's good you'll have the truck. Full kitchen but minimal cooking facilities - hot plate, micro, bbq grilles on the deck outside. Oceanfront but 60' up a cliff. http://www.mydreamapartments.com/Englishindex.html Max and Sonia run it, they're good people. Offered to meet us at the airport and everything. Free wi-fi and my phone worked out there also.

It places you sort of in the center of the better western diving, Westpunt isn't too far away and neither is Porto Mari. About a 40min. drive back to town. Stock up on food at Centrum Market south of the airport b4 you drive out, they sell $1.00 disposable coolers - you won't find much out west - one small local store (Toko) and a few restaurants - mostly in Westpunt. Porto Mari also has a snack shop. Varsenbaai also recently opened an outdoor beachfront cafe of some sort.

Discover Diving at Lagun is 2mins. east - they rent tanks you can take off-property. They're at the turn-off to Playa Lagun a block before you get to the beach. They have an inexpensive daytime restaurant there also. Discoverdiving & Restaurant -> Home
