Anyone ever stay at Sunset Waters Beach Resort?

Green Flash...
We stayed there last year in August, and will be returning this coming September.
I believe you tagged another post which was a full review from April... it was truly an excellent synopsis.

My bride & I stayed in an Ocean Front Junior Suite. It was nice. We had the honeymoon package, and you could tell that they really tried to make it nice (flowers on the bed, candle, etc.). Had it not been for AA leaving one of our two dive bags in Miami... we would have been thrilled. Also, the candle was citronella, lit in a closed room (potentially fatal).
The staff did a great job trying to make the honeymoon seem "honeymoonish," but it seemed like they were on a limited budget with what they could provide. I do have to say, it seemed cute. Almost like little kids, making Mom and Dad breakfast in bed on their anniversary... and making PB&J sandwiches. They did the best with what they had, and we appreciated it.

But... we truly went for the diving. We're both dive professionals, and were looking for R&R diving. Admittedly, I over-geared. Such is the life of a Techie. "Be prepared for any environment." I was ill prepared for the low key, relaxing dive life.
Curacao and Sunset Divers, are the perfect place to just let go and dive. I didn't need my HID Salvo lights, I got by with a little UK SL4 LED at night. I truly learned the value of less is more.

So... I give Sunset Divers 4 thumbs ups. If you time your trip right, you'll be virtually alone on the boat (off season). They take EXCELLENT care of you AND your gear. And Lynn is one of the friendliest dive shop managers you'll ever know (and one heck of an instructor/photographer).

As for the hotel... it's marginal, but if you were looking for a posh hotel, you wouldn't be looking for it on ScubaBoard. :D

Best wishes & happy diving.

Hi Guys,

I hope you have read the boards. On July 18th, 2009 Sunset Waters closed their doors and filed Bankruptcy. They owed Sunset Divers 55k, that they probably will never see. Sunset Waters is not honoring any prepaid reservations and many people are losing a lot of money. I heard this from a very reliable person. Read undercurrent for more posts from angry people.

We stayed there last year. Great Dive OP. The place was fine, it needed some fixing up. I have heard also they closed also. I hope someone picks the place back up because its at the best end of the island as far as diving goes.
