This is more of a general travel matter rather than something specific to diving but I thought it would be useful info.

According to this article, there will be some changes to the departure fees paid by passengers leaving from Curacao's airport. The new fares go into effect on December 1, 2012 but there appears to be a reprieve for previously purchased tickets.

CAP introduces new passenger facility fee and landing fee, as approved by the government, as of december 1, 2012 - Curaçao Chronicle

Perhaps someone on this board from Curacao might be able to provide additional clarification.

Well I left Saturday and sure enough I couldn't chat my way out to the new fee. My receipt is number 0000001 and wife is 0000002. Maybe they will be of value some day?

Irie1029, out of curiosity, how did you pay the fee? Cash (US or Curacao)? Credit card? Who collected it? Was it the ticket agent or was it done in a separate line?

It will be interesting to see if the airlines now start collecting this when new tickets are issued.

I paid it at the window "for fee collection" at the top of the escalators to the right of the sliding doors before security. It is once you enter security is where they collect the ticket being proof that you paid. I paid US and change was given in US. You could pay in NAF or credit card. I needed to break a $50. Note I fly Insel to avoid the hell hole called Miami. Insel has never included the fee. American Air ticket holders did not have to pay an increased fee even though the ticket was charged at the lower rate. Most airlines seem to include the fee.
