Heading to Breezes Curacao in Oct. Anyone know who the dive operator is for this resort??
Anyone know what the "free" shore dive is like? Not sure if my buddy is going so I may have to do all boat dives rather than shore dives. Any advice?

As Del Mo mentioned the dive operator at Breezes Curacao is Ocean Encounters.

At Breezes Curacao the on site Ocean Encounters dive master does a guided shore dive each afternoon at 2:30 PM (double-check the time in case it changed since this July when we were there). If you do the guided dive you should not have any problems with lack of a buddy.

The reef at Breezes is pretty decent. The site in mentioned within other literature as Oswaldo's Drop-off.

If you do a Google search on "Oswaldo's Drop-off" (include the double quotes when doing the search) you will get more information about the Breezes Curacao Reef.

Any references you see to the Princess Beach Hotel is a reference to Breezes Curacao as it relates to geographic location (Super Clubs bought the former Princess Beach Hotel and used it as the basis for creating Breezes Curacao. In fact, the name still appears on the on-site casino.

You also, might want to consider "The Dive Bus" for shore diving at other locations in Curacao. They are located right next door to Breezes Curacao (walk out the front of Breezes Curacao, turn left walk to the end of the Breezes Curacao property and you will see the Dive Bus SCUBA flag emblem.

Hopefully this answers your questions.

Any opinions regarding OE's operation?

are they good/bad?

Well, OE is basically a decent safe op and some people seem happy enough with them. I'm personally not crazy about them. Boats from the main OE operation I'd expect to be crowded a lot. Boats from the OE West location likely won't be crowded (except days when they run a bus of people down from the East!) but then they might not run at all. Staff at the West location were great and laid back, but the staff that came from the East with the bus seemed to have the cattle mentality. I wasn't impressed with my couple experiences with management at either. YMMV.

Cant wait, we are going in January. Looking forward to review. also, any additional info on the dive bus?
Thanks

They're right next door to Breezes - you could walk there. Suzy's great - she provided us with a bunch of dive info and we (unfortunately) didn't even get the chance to dive with them. The Dive Bus - HOME

Can't say enough about Suzy, Mark & Holly @ the Dive Bus. Great diving, awesome services, and just "brill" people (Suzy likes to teach us slang from UK). Heaps of fun. They will tailor dives and or trips to suit your needs or abilities. I know that within an hour of you meeting them, it will seem like you have known them forever. They make you feel more like a dive buddy rather than like just a client. My wife and I have made many dives with them and various classes. We are going back again in August and will complete our Rescue Diver cert. This will be our 5th trip to CUR and Breezes and 3rd trip diving with the Dive Bus. Already can't wait. Have a great trip in Jan.
I would be happy to help you with any info that I can.:14:
