Cuba Anyone?

Looking for info from anyone who's done any diving in Cuba. Would appreciate recommendations on dive sites, suggestions on mistakes not to make, and general info on the government-run dive shops/operators.

There is a Mexican liveaboard that sails from Cancun to the Maria la Gorda area of SW Cuba.

Hi Currahee Vet,

I have 25 trips to Cuba under my belt, but since I've only been diving for a year, only did 1 dive trip last April.

Done 10 dives in a 2 week vacation at Cayo Largo ... all of them were nothing short of excellent ... DMs are great there !! Only one problem, the island of Cayo Largo is closed during hurricane season, from September to November.

I am planning my next trip to Cayo Coco this coming september .... and I have searched the net and I have lots of info on diving in Cuba. I am including my 2 best...

Thanks to all for the above replies. I'll be moving to Cuba before too long, and want to make sure that I don;t look back and say "Ah, crap! If only I'd known..."

There seems to be a dearth of info on Cuba available on-line, so I'll take that up as my topside hobby -- could be the start of a exciting new career!

I have dove Cayo Coco, Trinadad and Santia Lucia. All were good dives. Cayo Coco can be bad if teh wind is from teh wron direction, Trinadad had some great walls. Best of all was a bull shark dive in Santia Lucia. We are going to Santigao De Cuba in Jan becouse we have heard teh diving in that area is good.
