I am a newly certified Diver. My wife wants to go on a cruise from New York for about eleven days. Can anyone recommend a cruise out of NY where I can go SCUBA diving when I get to a port? Thanks for any input! Ronnie :azvatar:

Carnival has a 6-day cruise to Bermuda that leaves from New York.

Royal Caribbean has some cruises from NY that hit the bahamas and a few other islands. Of course you spend a day or two of "Fun day at Sea" on the way there and back.

For diving, the Bermuda trip that Firebrand mentioned might be the best. You actually stay several days in Bermuda instead of visiting an island for only 5-8 hours like you do on many cruise boat island stops.

Norwegian Cruise Lines has a 11 Exotic Caribbean cruise out of New York.
The ports of call are Ocho Rios Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Roatan Honduras, Belize City Belize, Cozumel and Grand stirrup Cay Bahamas.

Princess Cruises has a new ship from NYC to Turks & Caicos, San Juan PR, St Thomas and Bermuda for 8 days starting next June

I am doing Burmuda off of Norwigian Cruise lines next month . I will let you know how it goes ,we chose the one out of Boston it stays in port for four strait days..Paul

Regarding Bermuda, a couple of things to keep in mind . . .

1. Some of the ships stay docked in one place, like Dockyard, for the entire time, which makes making scuba diving arrangements easier. Some ships jump from Hamiltion to St. Georges so it could require coordination with different dive ops depending on where you are on each particular day.

2. Timing is important. After September, tourism drops in Bermuda, and often times dive operators will not go out if they only have a few bookings. Actually happened to me yesterday and today with one operation that canceled due to no divers. So you should call ahead to the operators and enquire about diving availability on the specific days you are in port.

Cool, I did that cruise on the Norwegian Majesty about 5 times so far!
You'll like it. The food on the Majesty is excellent. It's a small ship but nice.
I didn't think the diving in Bermuda was great at all....not much life and lot of bleached out coral, but Bermuda is really nice! We rent mopeds and drive ( very carefully) all around the island.
I'll probably be coming back in on my boat from scuba diving in Boston Harbor as you are going out. The Majesty leaves the Black Falcon Peir at 4pm every Sunday.
FYI...The Majesty stays docked at St. Georges for the entire time you are there.
Have a great trip!
