Cracks on DUI New Zipseal?

Please look at these ZipSeal pictures. I recently got this Neck Zipseal on a spare kit and find out there is some stuff on the seal. What is this? Is this a kind of crack?

I know I can get the replacement though. Just out of curiosity, what makes the seal like this?

Are you sure those are cracks? To me it looks like a fluid of some kind dried on there.

I am not sure what it is. So, that is my question.....
I though it must be some kind of stain, but it doesn't go away. Any experiences?

Kinda looks like it has been slightly warm maybe. Doesn't look like it is cracked. One sure fire way to find out..get it wet
