Looking for "Good Guides" for reef fish, reef coral, reef creatures.

I have Paul Humann’s “Florida Caribbean and Bahamas guides” - 1st Ed for coral & creature and 2nd Ed for fish.

Are they still considered the best for the area?

Would it be worth the added expense to purchase the newest editions?

I love to ID what I see when I dive!

Thanks for the information

Paul Humann's "Reef Fish...", "Reef Creature..." and "Reef Coral..." Guides to the Caribbean. Just go to Amazon or Barnesandnoble and type in HUMANN to do a search. The Reef Set is the standard against which all reference books to fish in Cozumel are measured.

Get the newest fish guide.

I use a small waterproof pocket guide" CORALS & FISHES Florida, Bahamas & Caribbean" by Idaz & Jerry Greenburg, Seahawk Press Detailed pictures of 260 species of fishes and corals.I saw a guy put one in his BC on a dive boat. I got in Cozumel, but it's cheaper to buy in the States.

Without going into expensive & technical fish systematics textbooks, Paul Humann’s fish guide for this region is tops.

Make sure to order the 3rd edition.

Best regards,

I picked this up:

http://www.cozumeldiveguide.com/book.php

Nice guide to the reefs and the marine life.

Have other Cozumel divers used this guide book or looked at it?

Tell me what you think about it.

Thanks, AZ diver.....going to Cozumel in April!

I was given a complementary copy last time I was on Coz.

IMHO it's pretty decent, but mostly of value for it's coverage of the dive sites.

In terms of marine ID, it doesn't hold a candle to Humann's latest volumes.

Best regards.

Thanks Doc---I am looking for information about the dive sites as I plan to use Paul Humann's Reef guides for Coral-creatures and Fish.

Thanks, An AZ diver waiting for trip to Cozumel!

.... my guess is that you'll be pleased with it.
