I'd like to know as well. Was it damaged? Wonder if the island will be open for biz in early Dec?

Oh, it's a given that it's damaged...just to what extent.

It might be minor damage like Hotel Cozumel and Villa Blanca? Who knows? If anyone hears anything, would they post it? Thanks

From www.islanddream.com
The ocean did invade Aqua Safari's downtown dive shop, located directly on the waterfront. Clean up there is already in progress. The Safari Inn, located above the shop, came through undamaged and Bill has guests there now. Bahia Hotel, Suites Colonial, and Vista del Mar, all small hotels downtown, are also in good shape. The Palace Hotel, where Aqua Safari has a second location, did not fare as well. The majority of the rooms suffered damage, and that hotel may not reopen for some months

Read the thread entitled "First Flight from Coz"...it was written by someone who rode out the hurricane in the Palace....

The Palace was trashed. All the rooms are ruined. All the furnishings in every room are smashed against the front wall including the double jacuzzis. I spent the hurricane in the laundry room there with the staff. The surge came through the lobby and wiped it clean of furniture and everything else. We had a great week there prior to the storm. Dont expect them to reopen for quite a while. The pool area was also badly damaged and the outdoor grill is completely gone. The manager said all reservations would be cncelled for at least ninety days.

That is indeed bad news.

Hi All,

Found this picture and I'm thinking that the building with the yellow trim (you can see it through the trees) is the Cozumel Palace...does anyone know if that's correct?

Thanks!
Michelle

That's it. Looks OK from the front (land) side. Reports suggest the back (sea) side is where damage occured.
