Hi, I'm going on a cruise and want to do one of their dive excursions. Which has better diving...Cozumel or Grand Cayman?

Thanks!
Hiya, well I don't know about Grand Cayman, but Cozumel has great diving.Bear in mind that it's all drift diving though.Having the opportunity it would be great diving the cenotes.Wherever it is enjoy it!!! Ciao.

I have made a couple of trips to the Cayman Isalnds and did enjoy the diving. On most of the sites that I dived I found very little current. The dive boat will pull up tie off to a floating ball and you will do your dive around a certain area.

The coral and colors were beautiful and for the most part the water was very clear.

In Cozumel all dives are drift dives. The dive boat pulls up over an area and everyone jumps in, descends together and drifts along. When the dive is over the divemaster sends up a safety sausage and on surfacing the dive boat picks you up.

Depending on what cruise line you use. Sand Dollar sports normally does Carnival cruises. They will either pick you up near the dock or drive you to the south end of the island and take you to their shop.

Plan on a drift dive in the 80-85 foot range on the first dive and 40 to 60 on the second.

My vote is deifinitely for Cozumel. Have been there 13 times and am closing on a house there the end of January. Because of the currents flowing through the area the coral and sponges get plenty of food and look like they're on steriods compared to the same thing in the Cayman Islands.

If you have not already paid for your diving consider booking your own. You definitely wind up with smaller groups and in my opinion a much better diving experience. PM me and I will send you a list of dive ops in both places that I have used with excellent results.

Caymen is probably a bit easiers with more shallow dive opportunities and no current. Cozumel has the more spectacular reefs. You wouldn't be disappointed in either, or both! Consider a snorkel trip to stingray city and scuba on cozumel.
