My husband and I are going to be in Cancun that week, this will be our 1st dive trip since getting certified.

i hear some changes are being made.

I'll be at Plaza Las Glorias from August 7th until August 15 so they better not close the 14th. Can you check out your info again as you live there? I was told that they were closing the 30th of August.

This is the same information I have. Closing on the 14th, reopening December 23. I would have your travel agent or whoever you booked through find out what they are going to do with the guests who have reservations during that time.

For what it's worth. The original closing date I heard was the 20th, then I heard from a very reliable source and someone who NEEDS to know this information, that they moved the closing date to the 14th.

I'm just speculating, but it could be that their closing date is like the closing time for a restaurant, where that's the latest they let anyone in, not the time they throw everyone out. If they had to be totally empty by the 14th, then they would have to pretty well write off the whole month.

But yes, absolutely, check with the travel agent, and then call PLG yourself to double check, and THEN get it in writing.

I was just told by Keith at Padi Travel, (at 10:20am 7-29-04 eastern time) with whom I booked our PLG stay starting the 7th of August and ending the 15th of August, that PLG would be open for business until the 29th, with the bar, restaurant etc all operating. He said that some of the rooms would be started to be worked on (renovating), starting the 14th or 15th. If any of you living there (in Cozumel) know this info to be wrong, PLEASE let me know otherwise. He also said, even during the first two weeks of renovation, they will still have guests residing on site in another section of the hotel. Thank goodness they're starting the renovation the day I leave.
