Hello all, I ran a search for this, looked around and did not find what I was really looking for.
We are planning to go in November. I figured this way we most likely will avoid any crazy weather or hurricanes even though the season officially runs till the 30th. With the way things are going with the environment, I am sure anything can happen though.

My question is this: I was informed that setp till nov can be the rainiest? I was also told with November it can be hit or miss. Ok, so say we do go in Nov, if it does rain, what is the raining like. Does it last all day, hours minutes? I have only been to Cabo, and it rained one time when I was there, lasted for like 15 minutes and stopped.

Nice avatar!

"mmmmmmm mmmmmmmm B*&ch!" "It'll get you drunk!"

If I were going in Nov I would probably buy trip insurance, better to be 100% safe than sorry. :)

This was my thought when I set up a trip for last November. Well, Wilma changed all of that. You may still have hurricane effects at that time.

People...get trip insurance and plan your trip for when you want to come. There is absolutely no way to know what or when bad weather will come.

Prior to Emily and Wilma in 2005, we went TEN years without a hurricane.

Cayman got hit hard with Ivan in 2004, and was spared in 2005.

Prior to Katrina, years went by with no hits.

To say that we will still have hurricane effects in November is to assume that we will be hit again this year. Of course it's possible, it's always possible in the Caribbean, or on the Gulf Coast, or in the Atlantic, but it's also quite possible that we will go another year, or two, or three, or ten without getting hit again.

Travel to the Caribbean is risky during hurricane season whether it's Cayman, Coz, Virgin Islands, etc. Get trip insurance and enjoy your trip!

Nov 2004 was perfect! Was there for 10 days in the middle of the month and daytime temps were 80 evenings at 70 very low humidity. Rain 1 day for 30 min.
Nov 2005 was not bad weather wise after Wilma just a few days of rain all month. The problem in Nov 05 was we could not get there until after the 15th and that was limited by the number of flights.
Remember there is weather everywhere and you can be stuck in rain in Phoenix too.
Read fine print on insurance. Many times they won't pay off just for inconvenience only if hotel or planes cancel.

True enough, but there's varying degrees of risky. The hits by Emily and Wilma notwithstanding, if you are an occasional traveler to the Caribbean the odds of a hurricane hitting where you are, when you are there, even in the height of hurricane season, are pretty low. Read the fine print on any travel insurance you are considering; from what I hear when it comes to weather nothing short of a direct hit by a hurricane pays off.

That was my point about not assuming hurricane season is over. Either have trip insurance or lower your risk with refundable hotel deposits and changeable/FF airfare. The later worked for me last November and all it cost me was some disappointment and having to move the trip to February. Just plan to go and reduce your risk as Christi says. Have a GREAT time!
