I am going on a cruise that stops at "Cozumel/ Jamacia/ Grand Caymand" and my time the boat is there is limited, only about (8 hrs, each), any information on "good" dive operations "near" the cruise boats, would be appreciated.

I would perfer to "walk" to any "close" dive operations where they drop off the people from the cruise boats (Grand Caymand) or on the dock at (Cozumel/Jamacia) unless there is some real good dive operation that you think is "worth" a taxi ride.

If there are any "specially good operations" (large or small) you can recommend for either stops I would apperciate it!

I would like to "contact the dive operation" before the cruise and see what times they go out to see if it matches time I am there.

Any information would be very much apperciated!

Thank You

I recommend booking your dives through the cruise ship. If your ship docks at the international pier, Dive with Martin is there, but otherwise, you will have to take a taxi to meet any other dive boat other than the cruise ship dive boat.

If your ship gets in later than 8:00am, you won't have very many options either.

Would highly recommend using Dive with Martin, if you are coming into the international pier. he's located literally just as you step off the cruise ship pier, (the original pier that is, there are 2 paralell to each other down there now, I don't know, maybe the new one isn't called the international pier, we just refer to whole area as the international pier area.)
He's a very good dive op, the DM's are great, no more than 8 divers per boat max.
I used him in Sept. on a dive master friend of mine's recommendation and have already booked with him for May.
he takes off at 7:30am and most others that I'm aware of leave no later than 8:00a so, you may have to check into an afternoon dive if you are arriving later than that.
the other option is to do shore diving in the a.m. when you get in and try and get on a boat in the p.m.
there's pretty good shore diving just off of the international pier area, out in front of Hotel La Ceiba, you can take off from the beach just in front of Martin's shop to get to it. it's not a spectacular as getting out on the pier, but it's not a bad dive. It's called "airplane flats", there are remnants of a plane that was sunk in the '70s for a movie shoot out there and some small coral heads.

The 2 southern cruise docks that are close together are Puerta Maya and the International pier. The other cruise dock that is located much closer to town is Punta Langosta. I'd tell you where your ship will probably dock, but you didn't include that information in your post.

Christi is right, the ship's excursion is the easiest, safest way to go if you want to avoid having to take a taxi, which really isn't quite the hassle you might think. The taxis will be lined up and waiting for the passengers to get off the ship.
