We're using the in-house dive op at Scuba Club Cozumel, Scuba-Cozumel. What a wonderful surprise for your wife! I'm sure she'll have a very Happy Birthday. Enjoy your trip!

Seems like a bunch of us will be there at the end of the month. We're going Jan 27 to Feb 1. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we're staying all the way north at the Melia. The DO there is Aqua World, and I've read a lot of negative things about them on this board. But they were mostly talking about their Cancun ops. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of how they are in Coz. Being that far north means no one will pick us up at the hotel. Which would mean inconvenient and expensive taxis every day to go to another operator like Aldora or DWM.

El Cozumeleno is next door, so I might check out their DO. I think it might be Scuba Du.

Anyway, does anyone have info about Aqua World in Coz??

We stayed at El Coz in November and dove with Scuba-Du. They were outstanding. Even with El Norte blowing two straight days (which closed port in the afternoon), they still sent a boat to pick us up for the morning dives and PAID for cab rides back when we were done. They ported the boats back in at the marina by El Presidente which is where most of the dive fleet seemed to be. Contact Antonio Madrazo at: oceantours@usa.net or go to www.cozumel-diving.net/oceantur to arrange diving. He speaks perfect English and was very helpful.

It's an easy 100 meter walk to their dock from Melia. By the way, the beach at Melia was pretty fouled (brown water) during our stay at El Coz. The dock also serves as a breakwater separating the two hotels. Lots of Melia guests were coming over to the El Coz side, which was fine although they were discouraged by the El Coz staff from using the chairs, hammocks, etc. -- quite understandably.

We also got to dive the Devil's Throat/Punta Sur- wasn't that a great dive???

Man, can't wait. Leaving on the 10th of Nov. for 10 glorious days again. For those of you Aldora fans interested I will post a trip report when we get back. Emailed with Dave and they are now doing a special trip south of Punta Sir on 32EANx and you end the dive with Devils Throat. Said its an awsome dive. Sounds good to me!!!

Yes! Devil's Throat is a dive most divers will never forget. You don't want to go to Coz and miss this dive. It has always been one of my favorites as well. When you pop out at 120ft, go to the right, pause for a minute and kneel in the sand. Just give a look out at the abyss, look up and around and look down. Surreal.
