Ok, my SI must be getting to me (warm water reef diver living in CA, so far, so 2-3 times a year is my diving patern). I have watched MacGillivray Freeman's "Coral Reef Adventure" six times in the last couple of days. Great filming, gets you all excited about diving. The music by CSN&Y (Crosby Stills Nash & Young) is fantastic. Has anybody else seen this movie?
I would like to open a thread on this film as there are many points and issues of, and about this film I think can be discussed. Talk to me, (and the rest of us divers).

You are right there are many issues in that movie...what particular area would you like to discuss?

Well I would like to discuss all areas. The deep dive to 350 ft was pretty amazing, the dive in the fast current into the 300 schooling sharks was awsome, the handling of a very poisonous snake seemed pretty stupid and of course most important are coral reefs being destroyed by the affects of man as much as the movie paints its picture or not. Reefs are destroyed by storms and recover, they are destroyed by many things, but to say that after millions of years could be destroyed in 30 years is pretty far fetched in my opinion. Reef preservation is something I would like to get involved with, it could be rewarding and fun. The film's slogan is very true, "we do not inherit this world from our parents, we borrow it from our children". So these our a few areas of the film to discuss, but there are many more, oh the bulldozer shrimp doing the house cleaning for the gobi fish was funny.

The part were their horrible trim and finning was doing horrible damage to the reef throughout the movie while they discussed the damage from other issues was super entertaining too.

My favourite part was when she knelt on the reef so that the cleaner shrimp could clean her teeth.

Sorry Rob for dragging you to it but you have to admid it was funny how they where preaching about protecting the reefs as they would crawl across it. And how upset they were that the reefs were in such bad shape if only they would realize they were ruinning it themselves.
