Convert to SPG?

Wondering if I can convert/cannibalize this console and just keep the spg.

I'm not familiar with that particular console, but I have dismantled one to salvage the SPG before. It is probably as simple as popping off the slate on the back and unscrewing a few screws.

Why not? It's simply housed in a boot. However, it looks like a basic plastic (polycarbonate) housing (certainly not a glass and brass), and a bit vulnerable without the boot.
