Check out archaeologist Chris McEvoy’s page and remarkable dives he has made on the Gunilda and Theano shipwreck sites. Many divers dream of diving the Gunilda site and some do but Chris dreams big and had two hours bottom time on his last Gunilda dive and no one else has done that before.
It is true that he used a two hundred- and fifty-five-million-dollar dive boat (with four bars, he is an archaeologist) and a one point one million dollar tender and a five-million-dollar submarine for the dive. You have to love the way Chris rolls.
He continues to study the impact of these new technologies on shipwreck sites and his forward thinking greatly enhances our understanding of our Great Lakes maritime heritage and submerged cultural resource management planning for the future. Good job Chris.
