I have a conshelf (I forget which model) and it's had a good life. But there are some problems that concern me and I'm wondering if my reg is just at the end of it's life (in which case I will go Apeks or Aqualung Legend).

1. When I bought it (used) I had it serviced.
2. 1.5 years later a buddy cracked it open and found the intermediate pressure was low (below 100). He cranked it to 140.
3. 1.5 years later an O ring went in the 1st stage and was replaced.
4. In a pool session my octo started free flowing - the IP was now at 180! The guy at my LDS recommended a full rebuild - which I did.
5. On my last dive trip (the first since the service) it breathed well for the first 6 or so dives. But by the end I felt like I was having to suck much harder than before. I expect to have to suck at 500 psi and under pressure but not when I have 1200 psi and am at 30-40 feet!

Does anyone have any thoughts about the origin of this?
