My wife has a brand new Suunto Cobra 3 dive computer and after our dive on Saturday, I installed the Dive Manager Software (v3 and v3.1) and connected the computer to my PC via the USB cable. The software shows the connection as USBcom10 but when it scans each port for the dive computer it reports "Device not found"

I reseated the cable over and over but the results were the same. I connected my camera to the same USB hub and I could download all of the pictures just fine so I am at a loss as to what is wrong. Is there some mode the Cobra 3 is supposed to be in in order to communicate with the PC??

The user's manual that came with the Cobra 3 and the help screen in Dive Manager are not nearly explicit enough to make doing this easy!! Can anyone provide some guidance here?

Did you have the Suunto in PC transfer mode? If not, the PC program won't find it.

Besides the above sometimes I have found it necessary to hold the computer and transfer adapter so good contact is made.

My Vyper has PC Transfer mode but I have not been able to find one on the COBRA3 - If there is supposed to be one, how do I get to it?

Thanks for the help!

As long as the USB is plugged in and functional; You should see
" DATA
TRANSFER"
on the Vyper3's screen.
Don't even turn the Vyper on; It will activate as soon as you start a transfer.
If it's not there you have a connection/cable problem.

Use a pencil eraser to clean the computer contacts and the contacts on the DC end of the cable.

I have also found it helpful, especially very soon after a dive, to dry off the contacts with canned air to make sure they are 'really' dry. I agree with hdugan, there is no transfer mode on the cobra 3. As soon as you plug it in, it should say data transfer.
Then go about doing the download from dive manager. You'd think they'd make it a little clearer in the manual, but no...
