Temp, vis, water level/distance on shore? Thinking of heading there this weekend to test my new sidemount rig. Probably be on the left after the entrance.

If you're interested in coming down as far as Pompano, maybe we can do a dive together Saturday morning. (Since you're a fellow cave diver, I'm assuming you would be up for a bit of a swim.) I'd be interested in checking out your side mount setup.

2 weeks ago at divers cove (tennis courts) all the sand was out of water and 3 steps in you are at chest level. temp was still low 70's upper 60's till 50 feet. vis uas a good 10 to 15 feet. If you go just be ready for the quick drop off. 3 weeks ago had a non scuba related drowning there 2 hours after I finished up a rescue class for 2 students.
He was walking along the shore in the water and didn't know how to swim and fell off into a hole. Mask cove good luck and good diving wish I could go this weekend but taking the family camping. Need to make up brownie points fordoing a lot of instructing this summer. :D

Was there last weekend. Temps still in 60-70 range viz 5-10 feet depending on depth. if you use mask cove enter on the right side where the rocks are or you will be dealing with calf deep (and deeper) mud. If you go to mask cove start at the point 220 degrees off of the mask cove buoy and 120 degrees off of the most inner spar buoy on the far side of the swim cove. Work back towards the west, if you find my camera (it is in an ikelite housing with dual strobes) you have made yourself $300.00 in reward money....I lost it somewere between the 33 feet and 50 feet depth range in that area.

hahaha, I would be doing the Hydro if I was in Pompano this weekend. Spent 7 years in Miami. Used to tech dive down there. :(

As for the SM rig, I'm a total newbie with these. Just got the rig today. I'm gonna convert two of my AL80 stage in SM tanks for this weekend. I'm not about to break down my 104s.

Yeah, me too. We've probably been on the same boat and didn't realize it: Hydro, Lowrance, RBJ.

I'm starting to consider side mount. I don't think it would ever be my primary rig. I agree, I'd never break down the 104s, but I do have a set of 95s that I was considering. I guess for me the main drawback is having to reconfigure all the regs and then switch them back and forth, or buy another set.

I'm doing mostly cave right now plus I got into caving (the dry sort) recently. Might lead to sump diving. SM has a lot to offer for cave diving. Less for boat diving but some people dive SM in the ocean. You have probably seen crazy Cliff around. Depending on how it goes I might go for SM 100% of time so I could break my 104s apart then.

As for hose config... It doesn't have to be that much different. The left reg is basically a stage reg with an BC/DS inflator on it. The right reg is different since I'm planning a 7' primary hose and a 6" HP hose. But really all I have to do is to take my right post backmount reg and replace the HP hose for a 6".

Well I have a lot of issues to sort out. It's the first time I will be diving my drysuit with AL80. I always dive double steels with the drysuit (no weights) and AL80 (single/double) with the wetsuit. So I have to figure out my weighting on this one. Then I have to deal with the SM rig itself. If I'm lucky and I get it sorted quickly I'll look around.

Do you have a better pic than what you posted. I can't read the text at all.

I will be there tomorrow morning at 9am (I have a trip on Sunday to Toronto so I have to make the 24 hour nofly window) PM me with your emial and I will send you a copy of the original.
