It was a long road but finally got my OW certification in summer of 2011. Took a week long trip with my father in law to Key Largo to get some more dives under my belt. As I was filling out my log I noticed that my last (did 2 2-tank dives today) dive of the day was #25. And what a dive it was. Nothing too challenging - Snapper Ledge - but we saw a nurse shark, a loggerhead, quite a few larger schools and a southern ray. Earlier dives saw 2 reef sharks, an octopus and lobster going out at (when they noticed 5 divers staring at them they said ' to hell with it' and each went their own way!), lots and lots of trumpet fish and groupers. So overall a very satisfying day (have two 3 more trips to go!) Even better that using all my own gear for the first time too - no more other people's peed in wetsuits for me!
Thanks to all the wonderful folk here who've been a wealth of information.

Thats Cool , and your in a great place to dive. Now you get to change your Dives: number to the next higher quadrant under your screen name. I love the Reef dives in Key Largo, wish i was there with you for your 26th, Have Fun.

Good job. Just stay away from that old Hudson River--you might meet Hoffa.

Well done.

That's about the time I went for AOW, aiming for Rescue (PADI) at about 50 dives. Worked for me. But that's a whole other topic, ad nauseum.

For now, enjoy, and keep on truckin'..

Congrats!...the 25 dive milestone....everything starts getting easier now.

I forgot to add-- I did Rescue Diver at 26 dives (perhaps a little too early?). If you feel very comfortable with your buoyancy/skills/general diving it may be a good time to give it some thought. Of course you need "Adventure" Diver cert. (if PADI, or probably something similar) and First Aid/CPR first. Apparently OW courses decades ago (and some agencies still do) included all this. But it is something all divers should consider.
