Hello
I'm looking for a compact digital camera (3M) to use primarily under water.
The cameras I found which suit my budget are:
1. Sony DSC-P5
2. Olympus C-3040Z
3. Canon PowerShot s30

Any recommendations as to which camera to buy (or not to buy)?
Some factors that look important to me: using the waterproof case, macro options, optional accessories (lens & strobes).

Thanks

I recently purchased an Olympus c-4040...I love it! I don't know anything specific about the Sony or Canon models. I looked at them briefly and kept coming back to the Olympus. One big deciding factor was the very affordable Olympus PT-10 housing. The housing was only $242 from Japan Direct. The low light abilities of the camera will allow me to get started with the digital without the added expense of an external strobe...which I've just purchased.

The camera itself has amazing macro capabilities but there's also macro and wide angle add-on lenses available.

So my vote is the C-3040 with an Olympus housing!

Don't know if it is available outside of Japan but the C40Zoom is out now and PT-012 housing - that package in Japan costs a cool 80,000 Yen (or $600 US).

I won't (repeat won't ) be taking orders but the PT-010 housing out here costs about $90 US - I guess that is why absolutely everyone has them......

Having said that don't even think about regulator shopping out here!
