We will be heading for Honduras 4-27. After spending a week on the mainland, we will head to Roatan on 5-4 until 5-13. With two daughters in college, we want them to be able to reach us in case of emergency...or of course when they need more $$$$.

We will be staying at Sea Grape for the first three nights. After that, we are not certain and intend to find a place when we get there. Will be diving with CocoNut. Is the internet easily available and how reliable is the phone service?

Undefined....looking forward to the free beers :beerchug:

Thank
Roger & Evans

Roger - we'll see you there (at Sea Grape, and Coconut Tree!).

Bring a Cingular cell phone (world band, GSM). A Motorola Razr will work. Call Cingular and enable world roaming, it costs about $6/mo. Calls will be pricey, but you should be able to get service and signal.

Internet used to be better than it is now. One of the providers was shut down rather.... harshly early this year. There will be internet access available, but maybe not at each business. I don't know if Gay and PJ got things fixed at the shop, as they were among the businesses affected by the shutdown. There is an internet cafe about twenty meters down from Coconut Tree - you can check email there.

As for the beers - I'm ready when you are! You bringing any cameras for UW photography? I'm waiting on replacement o-rings and I'll be finished packing!

Do you have any idea if Verizon will work?

Unfortunately, we don't have any UW cameras...too much?????

Roger

Roger,

Verizon will not work. Verizon does not use GSM (world band). T-Mobile or Cingular are your only US options.

As for an UW camera - they aren't that expensive. You can pick up a Fuji F31fd w/ housing and 2GB xd for about $400. Hold off on buying an external strobe until later, as that will set you back another few hundred.

Personally, I don't dive without a camera anymore. Too much to see, and my memory isn't all that great!

Internet/international calls easily got at Paradise computers. Be sure to leave your daughters with the Coconut Tree Phone number +5044454081 and email: info@coconuttreedivers.com. If your phone is quad band, such as a razor, that will work also.

Sprint cell phones also work there if you activate the international plan.

Later, Hawk.
