The incumbent, working below the surface of water, is responsible for conducting underwater surveys and executing underwater recoveries. The incumbent is responsible for conducting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on assigned equipment underwater and on the surface.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in the planning and execution of underwater surveys and mission recovery operations.
- Operates hyperbaric chamber. Acts as a tender for hyperbaric medical treatments.
- Performs scheduled, unscheduled or emergency maintenance and repairs on all equipment assigned to the Dive Locker.
- Operates vessels assigned to the Dive Locker as required based on training.
- Repairs and maintains all local buoys and moorings.
- Performs related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of personal protective equipment as well as the proper use and requirements for the job task being performed.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as drills, torches and welding equipment typically required for water vessel repair.
- Ability to work in an underwater vessel and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work with little supervision and display mature judgment.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to work cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.
- Ability to spend extended periods of time off shore.
Job Requirements :
Minimum
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a U.S. certified commercial diving or U.S. military diving school.
- U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Ability to pass a diving physical consistent with OSHA Commercial Diving Regulations (29 CFR 1910, Subpart T) or U.S. Coast Guard Regulations (46 CFR 197, Subpart B).
- One (1) year previous commercial diving experience.
- Ability to pass a Federal background check to obtain and hold a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
- Possess a valid drivers license with suitable driving record.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and post-offer drug screen.
- Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a post-offer Medical Clearance.
Preferred
- Three (3) years previous commercial diving experience.
- Current U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
- 100 Ton Near Coastal U.S. Coast Guard Captains License.
