Our local dive shop is contemplating scheduling a trip to Australia and using the Spirit of Freeedom as our dive boat. I noticed the post below said the boat was great, are there any other thoughts about this boat? Here is the itinerary they use: scuba_dive_the_coral_sea_live-aboard_itinerary.gif. There are two months that our dive shop gave for the trip Feb and Jul. Any thoughts on which month is better? Info I received is that you can expect a lot of rain in Jul.

It has been my dream to dive the reefs in Australia and I really want to go.

Regards,

Bill

I went on the SOF and did the Cod Hole and Ribbon Reefs for four days. It was by far the most amazing trip I have ever had. I was blown away. The service was great, the people were great, and I had a blast. I only have one regret.. and that is not going for the full 7 days. I highly highly recommend this boat.

What time of year was it and how were the water conditions (rough, calm, etc).

I would think Feb more likelihood of rain (wet season). July a lot colder and probably a bit rougher.

SOF is fantastic!! If you can go on the trip out to Osprey. If tehre is anyway you can do october it is superb then.

I was there for their summer (December) and it was amazingly smooth the entire way there. The conditions were not rough at all.. it was bliss! The water felt like a bath tub.. much different from going in the cold waters of California haha
