Since we have multiple threads on members coming to the Netherlands.
I just thought it might be prudent to start some lingo lessons. :D
Just try to see if you can get what's said here.

You can use any translator you can find to figure out the texts.

Hoi, mijn naam is ...... hoe heet jij?

and,

Volgens de lokale krant, krijgen we vandaag noodweer.

If you're not comming this way,have a go aswell.It's a learning thread.:)

Hoi, mijn naam is ...... hoe heet jij? Hi, my name is ... what is your name?

and,

Volgens de lokale krant, krijgen we vandaag noodweer. According to the newspaper it is going to rain. (at least I think that is what it says.)

Does it rain a lot in the Netherlands? Or is it mostly seasonal?

Also, like the idea of the thread but the words are hard to pronounce without hearing them. Reading them is one thing but listening would be very hard.

Volgens de lokale krant, krijgen we vandaag noodweer.

Literally: According the local newspaper, get we today emergency weather.

According to the local newspaper, we get terrible weather today.

Closer this time though. I left of the local part which was probably the easiest part to recognize in the entire sentence.

1st is on the dot.
2nd close enough to pass. (noodweer = severe weather,as in raining cats and dogs)
and it was the "local"newspaper.

Yes we do get lot's of rain (at times)

As for pronouncing words, I don't believe SB has a script for that.

new one.

Slager heeft u 3 kilo gehakt voor mij. Something about three kilos of meat.

and

Hoeveel kosten die kratten bier.
How much is the Beer? (or something like that)

Is'nt the word for meat vlees?
As far as pronunciation when I travel to the Netherland I never tire of listening to people talk.

Bedanke, tak.
