Hey,
So ive been reading alot of ear clearing problems and solutions this morning, Ive been wanting to take a comercial diving course and see if this is really what I want to do for a living. But often I run into a problem where I almost cant equilize and to get down I try almost anything and when I give up I stay at that depth for about 5 minutes and I can continue down another 5-10 trying to equilize the whole way, comming up is very slow also.

I think it may be a mild congestion because I had alot of sexy stuff on my face when I went back up on the beach haha. But i can never feel the oncomming of a cold until after diving.

So to try and shorten my rambling, What do I do if I take this comercial course and have this problem and can never actaully work as a comercial diver?
I sceen a doctor (family doc) and he gave me some nasil spray and said attempt equilizing every day, in which i do and have been for a month, though i dont take the nasil spray anymore.

Ok enough rambling, thoughts? anyone?
thank you,
Jamie

What part of the world are you located in Jamie?

You might want to make an appointment with an ENT, there may be some physiological blockage or partial blockage causing your problems.

I have had several friends who have had growths removed, one has recurring polyps that cause problems.

Here in the USA your looking at a six month course and an investment from $2000-$20000 for training. If it were me I would make an appointment and try to get the clearing issue addressed before making the investment in time and money.

Good Luck,

Jeff

Definitely, go see an ENT. There are a good number of doctors who specialize in diving, or ENTs who specialize as such. Where are you located? I would certainly do some deep diving before you start any commercial diving course. After all---be realistic, if you cant comfortably do a rec dive and get your equalizing under control, how do you expect to do it when you actually have a task to do IN ADDITION to maintaining your life support. Good luck, though. I wish you the best.
