Wow, I was just looking for a new dive skin cause I sat on a nail and ripped mine on the last trip...and I have lost some weight so that is all the excuse I needed!
When I bought mine in '92 there were all kinds of different colors of skins, fins, etc. Now, manufacturers seem to offer only one or two colors.
I have looked at Dive Goddess' (www.divegoddess.com) website and she has some cool skins but I want something in-between what everyone else is offering and what she is offering. (more understated?)
What happened to all the choices and is anyone else noticing this lack of color choices?
Makes it harder to tell people apart if everyone has the same color and style. I know colors fade as you go deeper but the patterns of the suit, if unique, can still help identify you.
I bought a pattern and am going to try to sew my own (no laughing for those who know my sewing skills and procrastination with craft projects).
My 2 cents.

Hmm, I've noticed a pretty big diversity on dive skins? I don't have a skin yet. I have Henderson's back zip trilam and I really like the color and pattern on that. I think Henderson makes a number of skins in different color. I think Body Glove does as well? At Sport Chalet and online, I've seen a ton of nice skin styles... more limited selection at my LDS, though they have multi-colored Excel wetsuits.

What I want to see is prettier steel tanks. I mean with AL80s, you can get any cool combination, but steel? Nah.

Shelli, what fabric will you use? a neoprene? or nylon? what did you have in mind? I think it's a great idea to try and make your own! Now I'm off to look at the site you posted. Thanks!

You might want to check liquidfit.com. Carolyn offers some great colors and patterns but nothing that will scare the fish away.
