In the winter our water gets cold enough to freeze the balls off a Yeti and I can say, after years of diving in this, that I'd rather take a trip to Egypt in the winter than put myself though that again. This winter I'm taking a break from diving for the first time in years. I'll only be diving once a month and only deep/short dives. The time I usually spend diving will will be spent on climbing instead.

That's really cold! 40'sF is what we get around here. Sorry to hear that you have to take a winter off to thaw out :1poke:.

JK there is always the Slash with the Flipper!! I gave them another shot last weekend and we did the same dives that your group did, but the vis was exceptional this time! Ony five divers on boat, so it was quite a change without the great one or K on boat.

Peace and Good Diving Brother

Ah.... Once it starts it's not as bad as the thought of it..... I have dives logged with water temperatures 2 degrees *below* freezing. Before I moved here I didn't even know this could happen. Ice diving last year we had to lay on the bottom for a few minutes before we started the dive so the gear would thaw out enough to make the dive. At -17C your valves freeze open to the point that you literally can't turn them off. A freeflow in those conditions could be serious if you don't let your valves thaw out first... It's really a unique experience to get into freezing water and think "aahh.....that's better....." LOL
