I just got back from Curacao early this morning. The diving was eventhing and more than I expected. The water temp was 79 degrees and I was wearing a 3 ml wet suit that I bought last year. I did 18 dives and was cold on every one of them. The same thing happened in Dec while diving in the Keys. I would like to add another layer under my wet suit and I'm not sure if a skin would be enough or maybe a fleece type of thing. I'm not interested in going up to a 5 ml. The rest of the year I dive dry and then I'm never cold even when bottom temps are in the 30-40 degree range. Any suggestions?

A hood. If you where not wearing one it will help. A hooded vest would be even better.

+1

As the saying goes: "If your feet are cold, wear a hat."

a hood - or if you're a hood-hater like me and really like not wearing one in warm water, try a hoodie - has just a chinstrap but nothing around your neck. You could also get a 3mm vest, shorty, or core warmer of some sort to layer over your existing suit. Any of those will do you more good then adding a thin fullskin, and probably be more comfortable.

I use a 5-4-3 wetsuit in the ABC islands, and that is just right for me.

Hooded vest.

I was in Roatan three weeks ago. Water temp was 77 degrees. Took my 3/2 mm Bare full suit. I also took two hooded vests---Bare 1 mm and 3 mm. Wore the 1 mm the first day then switched to the 3 mm and everything was fine for three dives per day.
