Hi,

I have an opportunity to dive the Cocios Islands this November and am trying to establish whether this is a good time to go...or whether I may be better waiting a year or two and trying to get go during 'peak season' ?? It's not the cheapest holdiay and I may have only one chanec at it so would like to try and get it right if I can.

Has anyone here dived Cocos at this time of year ?

Thanks
Jonathan

I dove in July and it was great, although the DMs rated it as a so/so trip (the largest school of hammerheads we saw was around 80, compared to the schools in the hundreds that they see sometimes). I think it's such an amazing destination that there really is no "bad" time to go, although there are "better" times to go.

Agree with LRobbins - I have been in May, Jun/Jul, Nov and Mar. We saw the big schools in May and Jun/Jul. In Nov we saw lots of other things - mantas, mobulas, turtles. In Mar we had the bait balls. So, it just depends on whether you are ONLY going for the hammerhead schools or whether you are going for the entire experience. Personally, Cocos is my favorite all time place to dive. I am going back in 1 month and am already planning my trip for next year.
