Been awhile since I've posted but wanted to share some of the shark action in Cocos Island. Unfortunately I only have an old Canon Ixus IS 100 with no strobes or anything so that coupled with all the particles in the water doesn't always lead to the cleanest shots. Never the less, Cocos is incredible and anyone who loves sharks should be booking a trip ASAP!

Rest of the pictures are here

Cool photos! I really like those first 2 B&W HH photos!

That Ixus IS 100 is the same as what they sold here in the States as the ELPH 760, isn't it?

I have one of those and I have been looking out for a Canon housing for it and wondering if it would be any good for u/w shots.

Did you use any kind of filter? What was the camera's WB setting? Did you do some editing in LightRoom or something after downloading from the camera? I can't even remember. Does the camera have an option to shoot in RAW mode?

Wow! I add Cocos Island to my bucket list.

Thanks!

I think the 100 is actually the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS although the 760 is almost exactly the same size and layout. I forgot that they called them different things, happened to pick mine up in Singapore. I have the Canon WP-DC31 case.

I've found the WP-DC31 works great for anything macro that the built-in flash can handle and then anything when the viz is good and you have decent light. Aside from that though, you'll be pretty disappointed. You can see some macro shots I've gotten at this link.

No filter, but I typically use the built-in underwater mode although I'm not sure it makes any difference. I don't mess with changing white balance although probably should. For most of the shots I corrected the color balance in Photoshop and for any of the shots that were noisy I used Photoshop and also Topaz DeNoise to help eliminate some of the scatter. There are a few, especially the b&w that don't have any editing really though.

Unfortunately no RAW option, only JPEG.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. And yeah, I couldn't remember the number on mine for sure. I don't have it here at my office. But, I KNOW that the housing for mine is the WP-DC31, so mine must be the 780.
