My backup Cobra started beeping after my last dive, showed "Er" and randomly flashed various depth readings.
Took it to the bench and pulled the puck from the housing, opened up the sensor cover to see if maybe something had encrusted the sensor area. Sure enough I saw a black speck on the sensor cover membrane. Took a q-tip to it, gently swiped and the whole membrane had stuck to the q-tip. Almost like the membrane turned to sticky glue.
Since it was nearly 20 years old am guessing old age finally caught up to the polymer and it degraded.
She owed me nothing, that's for sure.
