Hi all! I am new to these boards & happy to find them. Alot can be learned here. I hope I can get some help from my fellow divers.I recently joined a dive club in my area, and we are in need of ideas for making our monthly dives/meetings fun & interesting. We meet during the winter months at the YMCA, have a meeting, then dive in the pool. The rest of the year, there are sometimes cookouts after the meetings. The last idea we had was to have a scuba olympics. Let's hear what other clubs do for fun throughout the year! Thanks for the info.

Just last night the DMs from our store gathered for the annual "first" meeting. We discussed the rules and benefits of diving for the store, and then we got into what was coming this year. The highlights are:
-- easter egg hunt
-- pumpkin carving
-- turkey hunt
-- go with the pro - discover local diving sites
-- u/w olympics - we do it in support of a local charity.
-- scavenger hunt
-- Project Aware

Our club does what we call a 50/50 DAN raffel at each meeting (monthly at local chain steak house). It works like this, you buy tickets at $1 each or 6 for $5, you can buy as many or few as you want. At the end of the night one ticket is drawn and the winner gets 1/2 of the money collected that night, the other half is held and presented to a DAN rep at our anual christmas party (we are only 25 miles from DAN HQ and they can't resist coming for a free meal). Last year it was $500 to DAN if I remember correctly. We also do uw pumpkin carving contest, uw poker games, treasure hunts and monthly outings (summer)at a local quarry.
