So I want to learn how to dive. But now I'm doubting if I'll be able to clear my ears under water or not. Just went into my pool and found I cannot clear one ear by closing my nose and building up pressure. I know it's not suppose to be done that way. Still a surprise as I thought that problem was solved years ago (could not clear my ears for a long time, but it was possible again after I had an ear infection. weired.). Btw, I'm flying a lot and never have any pressure problems with that ear, neither when I go for a photo dive when snorkeling (some 4m deep max) and when I swallow I still hear a sound in that ear. Just tried it again on the dry. That ear does pop when I build up a lot of pressure. Hmm... any advice?

Hey, Lemoncloud, welcome to the board.

There are a lot of threads about that here. Take a look at this video.

Good luck!
