Claim of blue ringed octopus in Florida. Can't be, right?

Read this claim in a SB thread about favorite Florida east coast dive spots.
I thought blue ringed octos are not found in the Atlantic.
Perhaps he saw cuttlefish with its masterful disguise capabilities?
 
The Atlantic is defintely not a normal spot to see one but these are popular in the saltwater aquarium hobby and it is possible that people have been releasing them into the Atlantic around that area over the years. Just look at Lionfish. Same thing happened with them in that area.
 
yeah, lionfish are all over Florida's east coast and south now from irresponsible releases

it's not inconceivable that the same has happened with other exotic species

btw, there are no cuttlefish in the Western Atlantic ... he would have seen a squid

both are fairly easy to distinguish from an octopus
