Hi, I recently purchased this watch and have put a few dives. I think it's a great piece of equipment and find it's downloads very useful. My only problem is that after reading the manual I found that they suggest not diving it below a 50degree temp. Unfortunately for me all the lakes up here are in the mid to low 40's. I'd hate to have to pack it away for the winter but I would like to hear if any of you have tried it in cold water for long periods of time and if you have had any problems.

Thanks

I've had mine *at* 50 but only momentarily below that (below a thermocline and it hurt so I came back up quick).
And while I am of no mind to regularly dive at anything below about 60, I am interested in your report.

I don't think I'd worry about it. I just can't see how only 10 degrees colder is going to make it fail but I guess manufacturers have to post a limit. Most of the time limits are set with a little buffer.

During the winter, I do quite a few dives in the mid 40º and above range and I haven't had any problems with mine after about 5 years.

What *ever* got in to you to actually READ the directions! :)

Ignorance is bliss... :)

I've ice dived with mine a couple of times, no problems so far.

The air temp is worse than the water temp!

Thanks for the replies. If the weather lets up I will be testing it out on Monday. I understand the lake is 40 degrees at 20ft.

roakey, I don't know what to say. If it is any comfort I at least waited till I used it a couple times before reading them.

I took the watch out 4 times so far and it seems to be working fine. The minimum temp on each dive was 41 degree's. I'm so happy with it and realized I look at it much more than my computer. So I went ahead and sold my Data plus 2 and bought a used Suunto Stinger. it appears to be in great condition but I would like to get it checked out by Suunto. I have been trying to contact them though with no luck. Each time I email them it comes back as an error. Does anyone know thier correct email address.

Thanks

I check my watch more often than my computer for things like depth and bottom time but I hope you realize it's not a replacement for a computer.

Did you get the Stinger because you like the wrist placement? Are you going to wear them on the same arm? Just make sure you don't get them mixed up!

Can't help you with Suuntos email.

Hi Dee, Yeah I realize it does not provide nitogen or oxygen loading info which is why I am purchasing the Stinger. I am getting it for wrist placement so that I have all that info right in front of me and less equipment dangling. I like to keep things as compact as possible and the size of the computer makes that very possible. I originally bought the Citizen as a backup timer and depth gauge for free diving. I don't plan on wearing them both on my wrist. I want to continue to bring the Citizen along but I might just place it in a pocket.

I use 2 on most serious dives. I've had them in 30 degree water about 75 times. One of them "froze" on one dive, but I pressed all 4 buttons simultaneously, and it zeroed and started working fine. The other one has never had a problem.
Cheers
