A friend asked me today to explain how come such a great reabreather was put out of production. And i realized that i didnt have an anwser to give him.
I said i guess that they were before their time and it cost way too much.
Was i right? Anyone knows exactly what happened and when did they shut down?
Shouldn't they try to start up again and continue from where they stopped, i believe that Jorgenson Marine is going to supply spare parts for them, but isnt there any company out there today that would show interest in continuing its development?

kind regards Jonny Bekkestad

Jonny,

I see that no one has taken a shot at this, so I will give you what I know on the subject.

The mighty Cis-Lunar was one of the finest re-breathers EVER made, bar none! It was way ahead of its time.

One problem was the nature of the diving industry. Re-breather users are way up the installed base of divers. Unfortunately, as you get farther and farther up the pyramid, the numbers get smaller and smaller. Given the skinny nature of the market, and the price, not a whole lot of Cis's got sold.

Now factor in a down-turn in the economy, spice with some difficulties between the partners, and..."Bob's your uncle"!

Kevin Juergensen of Juergensen Marine does have the contract and the parts for repairs, if you know anyone who needs such.

Cheers!
