Every pirate ship needs a supply of rum, and where better to get it than in our own backyard?

San Leon, TX, a little south of Clear Lake is home to Railean Distillers and at 10:00 am on November 17th CHUM will be swarming their gunwales and plundering some casks of rum. Well, actually we'll be going for a tour and tasting, but swarming and plundering sounded better.

The tour & tasting is $3 per person, $5 for anyone would like to keep their Railean shot glass (cash or check only) - paid to them at the tour, not through CHUM. The tour & tasting will take about an hour & we'll have the chance to try all 6 products that they make. They can't sell the rum at the distillery, but they do sell t-shirts, sweatshirts, glassware, etc....again cash or check only. Fair warning, the rummery isn't air conditioned and is a working distillery, so if it's hot outside, it'll be hot in the rummery too. The San Leon Liquor store is just a few blocks down the road, after the tour she can meet people there to sign bottles purchased from the store if anyone's interested.

Please get your name on the list as soon as possible since the tours are also open to the general public and there is a chance they'll reach max capacity.

After the tour, we can head around the corner to Gilhooley's restaurant. It ain't fancy, but it is San Leon mainstay and home to some of the best grilled oysters that you'll find anywhere. A few things worth mentioning about Gilhooley's - they don't allow children and it's cash only. Also, they sell beer & wine but not liquor, however if anyone wants to pick up a bottle of Railean's finest from San Leon Liquor, they will gladly do set-ups.

Who wants to join us?

Just bumping this up since it's only a little over a week away.
