I'll be doing a Christmas tree dive this Saturday morning and I'm looking for suggestions on ornaments to take for my contribution to the decor. Everything must be biodegradable and negatively buoyant.

So far I've thought of a mild red pepper and a pita cut in the shape of a star. Anything else anyone might suggest? Thanks!

Pacific Spiny Lumpsuckers make great underwater Christmas tree ornaments ... if you can entice them to want to perch themselves on a bough ...

... they even come in an assortment of colors ...

Take a clear drink container, like those clear Simply Orange bottles.
Fill it with water and confetti (or small sea toys in case the thing breaks)
When you place it in the water it'll look like the sea toys are just floating in the water column.
Now you can shake it around and giggle like a kid again.

I've only done this in a pool though, so you may try using the water at the dive site to make it look more consistent.

This dive sounds like it's going to be fun though =]

Edit:
Oh, probably goes without saying but you should remove the labels if you do try this ;D

...wait didn't see the biodegradable part.
oh well =\
