Hi everyone,
I’m planning a Maldives liveaboard in January and would really appreciate some advice on itineraries and operators. I’m a solo AOW diver with about 140 dives, looking for a trip where diving is the main focus, ideally with advanced divers and good safety standards.
So far I’ve looked at:
- Emperor Vigo – Sharktastic (11 days)
- Spirit of Maldives – Heart of the Maldives Adventure (11 days)
- White Pearl – Best of Central Atolls (8 days) and also saw possible dates on White Pearl, Nautilus Two, Carpe Novo, and Carpe Vita around mid- to late January.
Any feedback on these operators, their itineraries, and overall experience would be really helpful — especially which trips focus more on east-side channel diving (Vaavu/Meemu/Rasdhoo) in January.
Also - most 7 days itinerary propose central Maldives/ best of Maldives - is this good enough for a start? It will be difficult for me to do more than one week, but I will try (to justify all the CO2 emissions to get there).

PS I reached out to Carpe Diem to get advise about earliest possible departure from the airport (Jan 24-Feb 3 11 day trip) on the day of arrival and I got the following strange answer which didnt answer my questions but generated confusion: Due to weather this trip we are going from Male’ now. not Dharavandhoo and the route will change but due weather we wil not be doing same route can’t advise route as weather is not good
