I just started scuba diving today. Really love it. I just wanted to know if it's normal for your chest to be sore after the first day.

your question will be better answered here in the Dive Medicine forum. I have spliced your question over here but left the hello in the intro section so folks can say hi there.

also, you might want to describe your symptoms in more detail, as well as the details of what happened, when, etc. so that you can get a better answer.

There are lots of things in diving that can cause soreness, especially in new divers.

Unfamiliar equipment, new movements, breathing very dry air, and a few other things.

Did the soreness clear up fairly quickly?

Were you practicing skills that may have stressed or bruised your chest?

Were you wearing a wet suit? How well did it fit?
