I will be at Buddy dive without a partner in June and will likely be doing a bunch of boat dives and hopefully find a dive buddy while I am there. I am not concerned about finding people to dive with but I do have a question about the checkout dive as I almost certainly wont have a dive buddy with me. Is there a DM in the water to check my buoyancy or will they pair me up with someone or will I worse not be able to do the checkout dive as I have no buddy?

It is really not that formal of a process. No staff in the water. I think you will have to connect with someone but really doubt that will be a problem. You will have time to socialize with folks around you and see if you can go with them as a third.

Not to worry. When you arrive at Buddy's, check in at the dive shop and they will tell you when the next orientation takes place (9:00am and 2:00pm daily I think). You will meet people at the orientation for the check-out dive which is really more of a self buoyancy check. Also they have a need-a-buddy board.

What would be more ironic would be to be at Buddy Dive with no dive;) Might just have to go SOLO - now that should bring everyone out LOL !!!

I don't believe Buddy Dive has any problem with solo divers. I have done it there quite often.

A good way to make sure they don't have a problem with it is to avoid asking.

Problem solved.
