We are going to Bonaire in September and had problems with our flights due to all the cutbacks on the airlines. Four of us are flying on American frequent flier miles. I posted earlier about how our flight was canceled and we had to change dates, add an extra stop and pay 5,000 more miles to get down there.

Well we just got an email saying our times had changed (not by much though so now big deal). I decided to call and reconfirm again just to make sure.

In talking with the agent and asking some questions, I was able to rebook the 4 of us on the non-stop from NYC to San Juan, eliminating a stop in Miami. When we originally rebooked after they canceled our flight the nonstop was not available.

I'm thinking with all the changes some people have canceled or rescheduled trips and more seats opened up. So if you don't have the ideal schedule you want, give the airline a call to see if the better flights are available now.

Good luck.

I am supposed to be flying to Orlando in October (direct from San Juan). Airline sent me a polite e-mail telling me that flight was cancelled, and now we would have to overnight in Miami. So we re-arranged everything so accommodate the new flight schedule and booked into a hotel with the kids.

Then we got another e-mail. Now that subsequent flight is cancelled as well.... aye caramba.

OMG.... that sucks! I would be freaking out. I think that is one reason we aren't seriously trying to book any trips right now that require flying out of the country. I am so afraid of what the airlines will do in the next 6 months! :shakehead:
