Hey guys, I need a UW video cam to do some inspections on pilings down to about 50 feet deep. I need a way to video them and show the video to the actual inspector(i'm just the diver) something for around $500 would be ideal, any ideas. thanks

If it is a one-shot deal then just buy something used on eBay then after the shoot sell it.

There are a few point and shoots that have video capability, they may be in your price range.

However, if this is going to be a repeated operation, you may have to spend a little more just for a decent housing, not to mention the lights.

I would suggest getting a point and shoot camera that does video. The new Canon Powershot SD780 does high def video for under $300 and you can get a Canon underwater housing for it for under $200. If you don't need high def, you could get an older canon p&s and housing for even less.

A real cheap way to get video (< 200.00) is to use one of those fish cameras that come with built in lights and video monitor. An example: Underwater Fishing Cameras - Underwater Cameras : Cabela's They're not bad, though the output is black and white. The only trick is to get some type of VCR to record while you're down there inspecting. The good thing about them is if your client is there they can get a real-time look.

Other than that a point and shoot camera as suggested is a cheap way in.

You don't need to spend $500.

Check out GoPro that has a low light feature as well. It is only $150.
